#283350 Sony lose 1B and cuts 5000 more jobs

Posted by SailtheSeas on 01 May 2014 - 11:41 AM

I like the way 5000 people losing their incomes in which they need to survive and the potential possibly of thousands of more job cuts is amusing to people. As much as I am not Sony's biggest fan, I don't like seeing any company fail because it's the ordinary men and women who depend on an income to live that suffer the most. #

I hope those 5000 people find new jobs soon and I hope Sony recovers from this awful mess it finds itself in.

#281437 forget watchdogs , my game for this month is Project Cars

I'll be picking this up on the Wii U and PC.

I'm not usually a fan of racing simulators, but this does look good, plus I like the fact that SlightlyMadStudios is incorporating the Wii U into the equation.

I bet this game isn't coming to the Wii U.

#277909 Lets face it: MS Messed up with Xbox One

Posted by SailtheSeas on 19 March 2014 - 07:01 AM

PS+ is $10 cheaper and gives you free games that you usually can't get for less than $10 in a GameStop bargain bin.

You don't get free games, you pay £39.99 a year to download certain games to play for the duration of your subscription, you are essentially renting these games. I'm not knocking the service, I just find it baffling that people defend Sony's PS+ subscription while slating Microsoft's Xbox Live subscription.

#277882 Lets face it: MS Messed up with Xbox One

Microsoft did mess up with the reveal and then the E3 conference, Don Mattrick and Adam #dealwithit Orth's attitude to gamer backlash was incredible and while I never had any issues with any of Microsoft's policies, I can understand why many people did. Mattrick saying "People can play their 360's" when asked about people who do not game online or do not have access to the Internet showed an individual who was out of touch with over 35million+ 360 users who didn't have Xbox Live membership at the time.

That said Microsoft deserve some credit for changing their stance, some say it was due to consumer back lash and poor preorder sales, but whatever it was, Microsoft altered all of their policies bar the Kinect 2.0 being mandatory which I do not agree with much in the same way I don't agree with the Wii U gamepad being a mandatory accessory.

As for Microsoft's communication being mixed up? I disagree entirely, they've always said that the Xbox One is an entertainment box, not a console. It's a media box that plays games. You'd have to be as thick as two short planks not to understand this as Microsoft have beaten the horse to death over this issue in recent months.

People worry about the Kinect camera, yet these people share their information with corporations when they sign up for loyalty cards, when they post their personal details on websites like Facebook and Twitter. People blame Microsoft for the NSA and GCHQ using their device as a monitoring tool, yet it's entirely possible that this is done without Microsoft's knowledge or consent. After all the US Government under George Dubya spied on British citizens without consent of the British Government, so who is to say the NSA isn't monitoring you irrespective of you having a Kinect? You can't be that naive surely?

Also you don't need to use the Kinect, you can unplug it and use the controller to navigate through the Xbox One's interface.

Where I do understand gamers anger with the Xbox One is over the resolutions and graphics. Microsoft should have ensured that their console could match Sony's PS4 in terms of resolution because you can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, that's not to say that games at 720p won't look great, Bayonetta 2 is a shining example of this, but the Xbox One has been touted like the PS4 as a titan of a device, yet the Xbox One cannot muster 1080p in most games and the PS4 at times is having problems obtaining 60fps, yet nothing is said about that.

The Xbox One was designed based on the activities of 360 users, Microsoft's data collection apparently showed that 360 users spent more times doing non-gaming activities i.e. listening to music, chatting to friends, watching movies, so that's where they got the idea for this all-in-one Xbox One, a nice idea in theory, but the execution hasn't been brilliant, but I do commend Microsoft for being ambitious enough to change what was arguably a winning formula with the 360 in the eyes of many gamers.

. But my main problem is Gold Live, its just a money grabber. Atleast with the one they made it sharable, but yeh.

Do you have a problem with PS+?

I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

#272585 Sold my wii u

Posted by SailtheSeas on 15 February 2014 - 10:59 AM

As much as I wanted to trade in my Wii U after seeing this latest Nintendo Direct, I'd have to be bonkers to trade it in.

I highly doubt that the PS4 or XB1 will have games as good as Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, X and Bayonetta 2. Hell neither the PS4 or the Xbox One have a game as good as the Wonderful 101.

If you like sports games, brown shooters and interactive movies then those consoles are for you.

#272303 Bayonetta 2 1080p REALLY?

Posted by SailtheSeas on 14 February 2014 - 01:31 AM

I was one of the first people on any site to suggest it would. Most people just have such a negative outlook on Wii U hardware they dont think its capable to have a game on that level running that smooth plus 1080p. i think it is possible and is going to happen. Time will tell though.

The Wii U has more 1080p 60fps games then the Xbox One.

well seeing as the gameplay footage we saw was from a game that at that point about 9 months away we can expect even better. To me that boss fight on the building proves Wii U is more advanced than ps360 and has a VERY capable CPU/GPU. its def next gen its just sad no 3rd party developers gets the hardware enough to show it.

Your Ubisoft's, EA's and Activisions are too lazy to sit down and spend months with different architecture, they just want all the devices to be identical so they can do simple inexpensive ports which are guaranteed to see them get a return on their investment.

That's why I like smaller developers like Platinum Games, TT Fusion and Slighty Mad Studios who will spend months with a machine ensuring they understand the architecture, so they can make a great game.

#271919 Investors want new Microsoft CEO to abandon the Xbox divison

but I've always felt it was the 360 that brought about the money grubbing image the industry has today. I never felt that many developers were all that into making DLC/subscriptions and were all about quality games before it arrived.

You've clearly never played PC games pre-2005 then.

#271298 PS4 Automatically Deleting Games From Library

Posted by SailtheSeas on 09 February 2014 - 10:06 AM

Given how much these consoles cost and how large the installation files and save files are for the games, you'd have thought that Sony and Microsoft would have included at the very least a 1TB harddrive.

#270670 Nintendo & Wii U at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games 2014!

I bet you they have casual games only.

If this helps shift more consoles then who really cares?

#270492 Wii U 3rd party support

Posted by SailtheSeas on 04 February 2014 - 11:46 AM

Wii U gamers can go out and buy 5 third party games each and it won't make a blind bit of difference, Nintendo and its hardware is more isolated from the rest of the industry than ever before.

Buying a new third party game each month won't solve the third party problem.

#270217 DKCTR TV Commercial

Posted by SailtheSeas on 03 February 2014 - 06:36 AM

These adverts are just mediocre, they really are.

I mean this advert is better than the Super Mario 3D World ones, but seriously the actors like the two in the advert above need to go.

#270082 One Game, Could Change Everything

Posted by SailtheSeas on 02 February 2014 - 01:31 PM

Nintendo doesn't need saving, but the Wii U most certainly does.

The launch and the year head start has been a disaster and now Nintendo will have to rely on the software to drive up sales. Reggie is right when he says that software sells hardware, but where is the software?

Now Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is coming out this month and that's fantastic, but it will be three more months until another big game comes out. We've heard nothing about the next Zelda, we've heard nothing about SMTXFE, X and Yarn Yoshi.

Super Smash Bros roster isn't even finished yet with Lucario being announced in the last few days.

Nintendo need to get these games out and I'm delighted that Iwata has said that Nintendo plans on adding more studios to Nintendo because with a lack of third party support and two hardware platforms to sustain, Nintendo needs as many studios as it can get to prevent droughts like the one that engulfed with the Wii U for the first 8 months of its lifecycle.

#269700 Nintendo 3rd Party Revolts Continues - Batman Arkham Origins DLC Pulled

Posted by SailtheSeas on 31 January 2014 - 10:18 AM

I like the way a lot of Anti-Nintendo gamers are using this as a stick to beat over Iwata's head.

Now granted I think Iwata has made some bad mistakes over the last two-and-a-half to three years, the fact that Warner Bros like Ubisoft with Splinter Cell and EA before them with FIFA 13 thought that they could release inferior games which have missing features and they would sell like hot cakes says everything to me about how just disrespectful these developers are to Nintendo's consumer base.

Funny how people say that third party games don't sell on Nintendo systems yet Lego City Undercover has sold around 700,000 copies and that's excluding digital downloads from the Nintendo eShop.

I may well have bought Arkham Origins and Splinter Cell Blacklist had they not been 'gimped' ports.
