Exactly what I thought. Maybe a simple standard message:
1) Thanks for reporting we are looking into this.
2) Thanks for reporting we took measures.
3) Thanks for reporting but we had to decline.

It gives some feedback too and learns the 'reporters' what kind of 'reports' are important and which are not.

9/10 of my reports are along the lines of "i think this is against the xyz rule, but i'm not sure"
That's the only reason I'd like a response.
Confirmation or a smack saying i'm reaching would be nice is all to me.

Well, I check the reports regularly and how it needs to be done or discuss it with the other mods/admins. If you want me to message the reporter when I am done or looking into it, I suppose I can.

I think it gives a feeling that reporting helps. If people don't see it they might stop using it.

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

Alright, I'll make a habit of contacting people after/while dealing with their report. I'm not sure about the other mods, but if the users feel like something like that would be good, I suppose we could make a thread or a poll to get the others attention.

nah, polls are stupid.
You should make the decisions.
It'd probably be too much to reply to every report.

I get the feeling I'm not the best judge of character for this situation, but as advice for forums members, when members involved in incidents are ignoring the issue, please don't draw attention to it either. Often in chat, when members try to draw away from issues to talk about something else, it's always brought back up, even against the the request of the involved.

This goes back to what was said of how we should just notify the mods promptly and ignore the trolls. The end.

Yes! Thank you! I go into the chat to talk with the friends I've made and talk about video games. I went into chat a couple of weeks ago and the discussion was gay porn. That is not OK! I just miss the unity we all use to have together.

I cannot stress what Noona and Goomba have said enough. Every time I go in there, it is ANYTHING but games being spoken about. I don't even know what is being discussed 90% of the time cause it just gets crazy and obscure and at times inappropriate, or its a bloody soap opera. Guys, this is a Nintendo forum and chat community...what is so hard about talking about games. Honestly. There is more than enough to talk about. Why does it always turn to trash. I haven't been here as long as most of you have. But when I first got here, chat was fun, productive and on topic. Granted, it was right after the Wii U release, but still. I want to be motivated to keep coming here. It is getting harder to do that by the day. We deserve better than this and the power to change it is on all of us. Can we pull together please? for all our benefits?

So, even the chat regulars think the chat needs to be uninstalled?
Or am I misunderstanding?

Chat, while it allowed several members to hold greater discussion and get to know each other better, has been the source for a number of issues on here. It needs to be greatly revised (up the post count that allows usage, create rules, etc.), or, in my opinion, eliminated if issues aren't resolved.

The only problem I've seen are with users who think it makes them special because they use it.

Excessive trolling, personal harassment, spam, and thread spam are all issues from chat.

Those are people.
They have so much fun in chat they bring it out into the rest of the forum expecting the same leniency because they're so funny in the chat.
They get 9001 likes and parade around like a boss on acid.

I think it's less about the chat existing and the topics which are discussed there, and more about the people who are using it and not receiving punishment for one reason or another.

Obviously the things people speak about in chat should stay appropriate, but i dont think everyone should have to talk about games 24/7.

Back in the days before David saying "hello doll" got you banned.
Nowadays people talk about gay porn and their pegasus generatores every day like it's nothing.

^ I'd just like to clarify that these are not things I enjoy discussing in the chat.

As for what could be discussed in chat, they could be video games, recent news, music, politics, food, TV and movies, and all for jokes that are good jokes. Just keep in mind that this is a video game forum, and people are on here to talk about video games.

Whenever I spend some time in chat, I do sometimes try to shift the subject away from things like gay porn and etc, but there are some users who stay in chat hours upon hours. It typically ends up as a discussion between two users, so I think that those subjects are better discussed over private chat, when the other chatters don't really care for the subject.

Just because that's all you do in it doesn't mean that it's its only purpose.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Why is this pinned btw?
I don't get why it would be, it's just a member providing some feedback.
Why pin this one above the others when it's getting the most action post-wise.

I don't get those kinds of decisions.
