"The number of things we could demonstrate and prove was limited - there's been some good examples - but now we go into the PS4 era, that companion device will look far more clear. We're optimistic it's got a lot more legs left in it and the PS4 has given it a shot in the arm."

Gara added: "When you consider something like Watch Dogs will be available for PS Vita via the Remote Play functionality it's very exciting. And the fact the PS4 is coming out at a well-received price point means it's not out of the question to own both."

It's sad when you can't even sell your handheld gaming device as a handheld gaming device so you have to plug it as a peripheral

A handheld system should be built for itself, ya having it work with the PS4 is nice but in the end no one would care unless it actually has games to play on. Right now they are advertising it as a accessory for the PS4 more then it being a actual handheld console...

Vita is dead by now, so they decided to copy the wii u and add the vita as a feature for ps4

I think the vita is dead, too bad too, it had sooooooo much potential to be amazing! I wish more games were developed for it. I woul have bought it if it had good games.

ARE YOU........Are you serious! The most powerful handheld competing with the 3DS and making it better is that it becomes a stupid accessory for your next gen system. What a great idea. I'm sure Nintendo did that with the GBA before, oh no wait they didn't. Vita is done, they took it out back and blew its brains out completely like nothing ever happened.

It's really sad that such a powerful and well designed system is suffering this horrible fate. I have one and literally only use it to play the entire Metal Gear series on it save for two games and PS1 games. Apart from that it is useless in terms of it's own Vita specific games. Only a handful of good Vita games and everything else truly good is either PS1 or PSP downloads. I wish they would really do something to make it into something really worth owning like the God that is 3DS.

Sony, you need to give people a reason to buy a Vita, not a $250+ PS4 accessory.  Why does Sony struggle with this concept?

Is it unreasonable to own both? Not for Sony, I guess. If it proves to be interesting enough to be worth the $300+ it costs, then yeah, I guess it's reasonable.

 

Is it unreasonable to ask an extra $50+ for a memory card that should be included in the first place? Uh...yeah. That's like 99% of the reason I don't have a Vita right now. The other 1% is that I'm a cheapskate.
