3. Yes, I can just put the chatbox on the front page and moderate it 24/7/365. It's not like I or any other moderator have lives or something.

Mourn has said again and again in this thread and out. It's not happening. I want chat back as much as the next guy, but the community still hasn't matured very much at all since the chat was abolished back in (April? March? don't remember). Who knows, maybe a year or two down the line it's possible, but who's to say this place will be around anymore?

 

In conclusion, chat should be a retired topic because the administrator has stated it's not going to happen.

Sorry for repeating the same thing again, but should we have an IRC?

It's very easy to create, and I don't think it requires Feld0 to create, nor a lot of effort. You could have it linked to the main page.

Then you can have moderators on that chat who can kick and/or ban people from the chat, but not necessarily from the forums. We could also have a help section for those who need help accessing the IRC, and I can make that if no one is bothered.

The problem with an IRC is that we would still have to find responsible members to be mods.  Not only that, the moderation would have to be a more strict due to the nature of file sharing on an IRC.
