The main issue is that some of these also feature 3DS news too, which has users confused on where to post them.
A secondary issue is people want attention, so need their threads to appear in recent topics, this in the past has lead to multiple re-posts, however, it should be noted that even if a thread is in the recent topics widget, multiple threads were often posted regardless in the past.

Nollog has a point. WiiU news should be where WiiU news section is. #DS could maybe use a sub forum for news.
News topics should show up in the new topics index however.
