I, for the most part, disagree with this statement. Any character who has played a large role in Nintendo's HISTORY should be allowed in the game. While I question why Snake was included (Though it's getting us a 3DS game, so it waaaas worth it), Sonic was a natural inclusion. Sonic is Mario's almost official rival, the two are very iconic classic characters of the platforming genre. It only makes sense that they clash in the victor's fighting game. All I wish for is that they don't overload the next Super Smash Bros. game with a bunch of 3rd party characters.
I mean really, this is a NINTENDO crossover game. Too many 3rd party characters would ruin the entire atmosphere, along with the reason why the game exists.
I know people are going to hate me on this, but here it goes.....
I wish 3rd party characters had never appeared on Super Smash Bros.
Something similar goes for Megaman. The main consoles that Megaman games appear on are Nintendo Consoles. Spinoffs included. Megaman is deeply rooted in Nintendo's history, and Nintendo is deeply rooted in Megaman's. The SNES would have not been the same without Megaman X, and the Battle Network games would have never been without the GBA.
