Could the Wii remote be the primary control option?

Watch the trailer one more time. Right near the beginning, the boy says "okay." He then places the Wiimote down, then picks up the new controller to resume playing. Now, this could just be that he preferred the Wii remote, that Nintendo wanted to show the whole "switching" concept better, or even just an overlooked detail, and this does sound very stupid, but we won't know until the holidays roll around....
What we do is, if we ever need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
We put the volume up to eleven. One louder.

That was to showcase the fact you can continue playing on the controller, and also you can use your current Wiimotes.
Yeah, this does seem the most likely.

I agree with Nollog. That was to showcase the fact you can continue playing on the controller, and also you can use your current Wiimotes.
This was just to showcase that you can continue playing on both controllers.
If this actually were true (unlikely) then Nintendo would have gone a step backward imo. (Which they can't really afford at this time)

Maybe the Wii Motion Plus will come with the Wii U
Every Wii Remote available in stores right now have in built WiiMotion Pluses.
Inside the MotionPlus is an accelerometer and gyroscope. The UPad has those features built in. So we are all good.

I think they should and will bundle a WiiMote Plus and Nunchuk with it. They arent replacing those with the new controller. They will be used alongside the new controller. (Unlike Gamecube controller which only a couplle of games used it). I believe they will still make games for Wii remote and nunchuk and thats fine.

Not everyone, but most people will. That won't happen. Devs. have to program for the controller that everyone will be guaranteed to have before anything else. Not everyone who buys the Wii U will have the Wii Remote, thus it can't be the primary controller.
You're not talking Kinect to 360 levels or Move to PS3 levels of people not having the controller, you're talking maybe 1 in 20 people don't have a Wiimote.
What might be worrying is there may be a lack of Wiimote+ support.
You know what would solve all issues?
Nintendo lauching Wii U with a WiiX title with a packed-in Wiimote+ controller.
Or if they plan to pack it in with the console, it's probable the console would come with wiimote+ and upad.

That's probably it. But I'll admit I kind of like using the original wiimote...

You mean the UTab? Or the new classic controller that will probably come out?I'm thinking the Classic Controller will be more important for the Wii U then the Wiimote.
