Hi guys! :)

I was having a walk the other day with my 3DS XL in one pocket and a phone in another, as I usually do. So it came up to me the idea of a Nintendo Phone, since carrying the two objects everyday can be a pain in the arse.

I wanted it to be big and have big screens like my XL and I also wanted it to have all the 3DS features (like camera, music, apps) and I also wanted it to run 3DS games.

Think of it as a 3DS plus a Phone. So, here it is, the 3DSPhone:

Posted Image

Tech specs:
  • Top Screen: 5 inch 3D 800x480 px display (1600x480px in 3D mode)
  • Bottom Screen: 320x240px screen
  • Front Camera: 1.3 MP camera
  • Bottom Camera: 2 MP
  • Dual core CPU (to power extra phone capabilities)
  • Dual core GPU (to power the 4x screen resolution)
  • 512MB RAM (to power extra phone and OS capabilities)
  • OS: Miiverse

So, what do you guys think of it? Would you own one alongside or instead of your regular 3DS?
If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?

Your specs are silly.
The 3DS already has a dualcore arm chip and a secondary arm for BC.
And the graphics is duals too.

I could be wrong though, because I don't care.
I just wanted to point out how arbitrarily slapping "dual core" on everything to make them "fast" is silly.
And all the other stuff too, thank you apple for bringing it all to light for a whole generation.
I'm a little grumpy.
I'd like it though, as I too carry my phone in one pocket and 3ds in the other.
12th edit.

I'd buy it, so long as it really did have buttons.

The 3DS has 2 processors and not a single dual-core CPU to your information. And no, the GPU is not dual-core either. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you start pointing fingers here: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Hardware

The only reason I mention "dual-core" for both the CPU and GPU was to give it a more practical use, since going into specifics about the amount of clock cycles it would hypothetically have would be rather unnecessary. Not everyone here in the forums is a technical genius like you, so I wanted to keep things clear.

But if you're so convinced that you could make a better thread then I advise you to one yourself. Thanks for the opinion though.

THAT'S AWESOME.

But even if I have to carry more than one thing, I don't care, as long as I got my dedicated gaming handheld. A phone is not a dedicated gaming handheld. *cough*screwuapplethinkingthatyou'relikeNintendoorSony*cough*
That is why I have a phone case that I can put on my shorts, it's like a clip. Then I put my Mario pouch with my 3DS in it and put it my pocket if I only have one game. Otherwise, I bring my whole case along with all the games, and I just carry it in my hands. ^_^

As long as the phone is not exclusive to AT&T (Vitanic) and that crappy data plan... I'm sold. All jokes aside, you've done a spectacular job rendering that concept art. I like it!

ARM11 MPCore 2x 268MHz
Is dualcore according to arm's datasheet. scalable from 1-4

I was sketchy aboot the picachu.

As for the third cpu, I assumed Nintendo did DS backward compatibility with hardware, but it looks like they're using either virtualisation, emulation, or magic to allow DS backward compatibility.

If they did this it would take away from the quality of games (dont even bother saying "not necessarily" because it would)

Also Nintendo would get steamrolled by Apple (same as first parethesis^^^)

Looks cool :D But doesn't seem ideal for touchscreen based games :P

If you think Smogon ban stuff

"Just because they can't beat it"

You clearly don't play OU

You clearly have no knowledge of the metagame

And you clearly don't deserve to have an opinion.

It's only in 3d when sideways.

If it were real, it would come with a stylus.
