This information was "leaked" via the Wii U's instruction manual in the battery replacement section. Here is the quote:
However, the GamePad and Pro Controller each require specialized lithium-ion batteries — the WUP-012 and CTR-003, respectively — and according to the manual, replacement batteries must be ordered directly from Nintendo.
Well, as we all know, WUP (stands for "Wii U Project") is the codename of the Wii U obviously and CTR (stands for "Century") is the codename of the 3DS, and CTR-003 really is the 3DS battery codename. So that's strange. A Wii U product using a 3DS battery? What? We're looking at 1300mAh of battery power for just a controller, that's insane.
I guess it is Power to the Player after all
