Well I, personally, love it. I've been playing it for a few weeks now (yes, I take that long to play video games. got a problem with that?)
I do the same thing. It took me weeks to get through Twilight Princess and I think this will take me even longer, if the reviews are to be believed.

-Motion controls almost as good as Red Steel 2
-Good Story (didn't like it as much as TP's though)
-The art style is very good
-Flying Birds is fun (best Zelda vehicle IMO)
-Game is fairly linear, but not as bad as many say
-I'd also recommend Last Story and Xenoblade

Skyward Swords controls were smooth, they featured motion controls perfectly, unline "Waggle you Wiimote" and the graphics were amazing most of the time. I wish it was HD.
Story was fun and engaging, played more like "play, play, play" and not line "Meh I can take a break." atleast to me.
Though the sky world was empty, and replaying areas. Only two 'mehs' but otherwise it's one of the best Zelda games along with Wind Waker and AttlP/Minish Cap.

I did all this and still wasn't bored with the game, jumped straight into Hero mode (sort of like Master Quest) the moment I finished the game the first time.
Really, sidequests get overlooked a lot unless there's a huge emphasis on them like in Skyrim.. but they're so much fun in Skyward Sword.

The linearity in this game kills me. It started off pretty well, but Fi takes the title of being the most annoying sidekick in a 3D Zelda game. I'm glad they're branching off the linearity in the next Zelda game.

Thats been my biggest problem with the series since oot. (alleviated in mm cause of all the sidestuff to do).
TP was by far the worst, a giant world, with absolutely nothing in it, that you are forced to do in a specific order.
Skyward sword was smaller, but more focused with much better pacing, and a story that was so full of zelda/triforce lore epicness and awesome events, excellent dungeons and bosses, and fantastic motion controls, that the fact zelda hasnt been adventure exploration in years just didnt bother me with ss.
Skyward swords linearity is blatantly the obvious result of a team to small to give a classic (pre oot) open zelda experience with the production values ss was shooting for, combined with the wiis hardware restraints.
Zelda u's team is huge thanks to nintendos expansions, and the wii u does not suffer wiis shackles.
This next one... Its going to be something else...
