I never got the chance to play the original Wind Waker on GameCube. So I'm definitely getting this. It looks absolutely gorgeous, off TV play makes it even better. Though I am wondering if this is a retail or eShop only release.

Simply upscaling the graphics to HD would of made jaggies, low res textures etc more noticable.

Looks like a complete graphical overhaul, remodelled everything for 16:9 with strong anti-aliasing, beautiful lighting and the shadows casting over the town will give the game more atmosphere especilaly in the dark dungeons and on the seas!

This game is coming within a few months so the screenshots released is pretty much the digital download quality, I would imagine retail release shortly after.

looks nice for an HD remake at least they up the graphics not just the resolution : that being said I feel they need to lower the bloom it looks like you been in a dark room for weeks and you step outside and your eyes hasn't got use to it yet .

Yeah, even though the graphics are pure brilliance, and no doubt the Gamepad controls will be an amazing adition, I hope they will add some more content instead of just features. I don't see how Miiverse intergration would work with a Zelda game, but I bet they find a way for it...

How about they let us explore a bigger portion of the Big Sea, with enough islands to contain one huge sidequest including a brand new dungeon? With new enemies, new items, new everything... Or maybe just change minor stuff to the existing game, like adding new enemies, making the Triforce hunt easier, stuff like that. I doubt Nintendo will change the storyline a single bit though.

My Dad just told me that there were meant to be two extra dungeons but they took them out, which is kinda true since it did have less compared to the other games :/

For all us "old fogies" out there... I'm super stoked to see this announcement. I kept my Wii because it has GC support and still have ALL my GC games just in case I feel like playing again. I remember picking up my GC on launch night at Walmart *shudder* back in my final college days. So this is very exciting to me. To me this also begs the question: Will there be more re-releases of GC games?... Even if they are straight ports without HD updates. Very excited and felt 10 years younger when I saw this announcement!

I actually like the gamecube version better in terms of artistic style. See this this new fancy HD remake, in my opinion, makes the surfaces look too reflective and shiny... almost like plastic. Furthurmore theres so much Bloom(or whatever the lighting FX is) that everything just seems blue and the colours of the original doesn't stand out. The GC version has less sheen, and absorbs light a little bit better... like a drawings on a canvas yet in a more colourful way.

Well perhaps this will change... just like how I thought the Wonderful 101 looked like crap until I saw new videos from this Nintendo Direct.

Edit: I just found a good example of what I am trying to explain. First of all I love the cartoon architecture of WW, but notice that the HD version shines so brightly that imperfect features like the moss on the roof gets "shined" out or does not recieve enough contrast. Just like looking at an old decayed wooden building or ivy crawling up a wall these natural occuring processes on human structures I feel give character to your surroundings, real or otherwise. Furthermore, theres no trademark white wind wisps/trails. That was a really small touch in wind waker that I loved.
