I've seen comments from the Sony CTO basically stating that their future plans are still focused on putting out really beefy, cutting edge hardware. Considering how badly that burned them with the PS3 - the biggest financial disaster in the history of the video game industry - and how badly that's working out with the Vita, it's safe to say at this point that Sony's future as a gaming hardware player is rocky to iffy at best.

Based on Sony and Microsoft's continued performances and unchanging philosophies in gaming hardware in the face of failure, I suspect we're going to be seeing a very different gaming industry in terms of hardware and major players by the end of this decade. At this point, the days of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are visibly nearing a point of unsustainability, and when the Playstation and Xbox brands take their leave, it'll be Nintendo facing an even more complicated situation with Apple and potentially Google and other competitors as the face and structure of the video game industry continue to evolve and alter - it'll be up to Nintendo to remain as sharp and adaptable as they are now to keep their leadership position. Given that they're the only major player in gaming hardware that's entirely dedicated solely to video games and gaming devices - as opposed to simply having that as a mere division of a much larger electronics megacorporation - they're the only one with much real history, perspective, or vision when it comes to the medium as anything more than a simple feature on an electronic device. Their size, sharp leadership - which kept them in fantastic financial shape with careful management and hardware design even in their decade in last place in hardware - and focus as a smaller, dedicated company has been nothing but an advantage to them in this industry that the megacorporations can't touch. Losing them would be catastrophic to gaming as a whole.

That said, the future's only going to get more interesting, the 3DS is going to keep evolving as we get more firmware updates - December's huge one was just the start - features, and all sorts of games, and we haven't even really seen the tip of the iceberg with the Wii U yet. Exciting times ahead. Not so much for the present competition, though, going on their failure to react or adapt to failure and their increasingly clear visible lack of understanding of why Nintendo is as successful as they are now, or how to reach out to - let alone respect - the mass market audience.

Here's a compilation of ideas I posted on the Nintendo 3DS Forums.

I think it would be cool if each system had exclusives pertaining to what games are on each system. For example, since The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a console game, you could have Lord Ghirahim, Impa or Demise as an exclusive on Wii U. On Nintendo 3DS, you could have Paper Mario as an exclusive character to tie in with the upcoming Paper Mario title on 3DS.

There is a catch to this though. Since every gamer should be able to experience the game with every character, you would be able to unlock characters by connecting the two versions of the game. Here's how it would work:

1) Gamer buys Super Smash Bros. 4 on both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
2) Gamer unlocks all characters in both versions of the game.
3) Gamer connects SSB4(3DS) to SSB4(Wii U.)
4) Super Smash Bros. 4 on Nintendo 3DS transfers characters from the 3DS to the Wii U, expanding the Wii U roster.
5) Super Smash Bros. 4 on Wii U transfers characters from the Wii U to the 3DS, expanding the 3DS roster.
6) This would give gamers a good reason to purchase both versions of the game, furthermore increasing sales of the game and raking in more money for Nintendo.

To display this online, Nintendo could add little watermarks to the Damage Percent on the bottom of the screen next to the character's image. This would show how the character was unlocked for any confused gamers. Here is an example of this in image form:

Special Move (Neutral): Spawn Red Spearheads
With the press of a button, Ghirahim snaps his fingers and a floating red spearhead appears around his head. Ghirahim can summon three of these at once. After summoning them, the player swipes in the direction they want to fling the spearheads on the touchscreen. This can work on both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.



Special Move (Up): Teleport
Once again, with the snap of his fingers, Ghirahim vanishes in thin air. One second later, he reappears in a location determined by which way the player moves the slide pad. This move is similar to Meta Knight's Down-B move in Brawl. It can be used as both an offensive and a defensive move, as players can tap A at the right time to make Ghirahim attack upon reappearing.



Special Move (Down): Sword Plunge
Ghirahim pulls out two swords, teleports upward, reappears slightly closer toward whichever direction he was facing and then stabs the ground with the blades. This move can be charged to dealt massive damage on immobilized opponents.



Special Move (Side): Sword Dash
This move is meant to be charged, like Luigi's side move in Brawl. Upon finishing the charge, Ghirahim charges in whichever direction he is facing and attacks the first opponent he meets with his sword. Ghirahim's running distance for this move is about the length of three characters standing shoulder to shoulder.

Final Smash: True Form

Upon activating a Final Smash, Ghirahim envelopes himself in a starburst of light and reappears in his true form. In this form, Ghirahim deals a significant amount of damage and wields the enormous sword he used in his final battle. Think of Wario Man from Brawl but with a more serious tone. After twenty seconds, Ghirahim reverts to his original form.

Something else that Super Smash Bros. 4 will have to utilize is downloadable content. The Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to begin supporting DLC very soon, so the Wii U will definitely support it as well, and probably in greater numbers. When it comes to Smash Bros, DLC opportunities are endless, but here are a few examples:

1) New Characters
One of the best things about Super Smash Bros. is pitting characters who would most likely never meet in mainstream games against each other on the battlefield. Since Melee, fans have found making character wishlists to be one of the best parts about speculating the sequels. Well with DLC, you wouldn't be restricted to the original roster anymore if one of your preferred characters didn't make it in. Granted that not every character would make it in, but DLC could allow for third party characters such as Mega Man or Rayman to be included for a small price such as $0.99.

2) New Stages
As the game's lifespan expands, new games will come out featuring more iconic locations that would seem fitting for a Smash Bros. game. Too bad they can't be in it, right? Wrong. With DLC, stages can be downloaded to keep up to date with the current Nintendo games.

EXAMPLE) Super Smash Bros. 4 comes out in 2013. A new 3D Mario platformer comes out in late 2013 or 2014, featuring new locations that look ideal for Smash. Nintendo, being the awesome company they are, put new stages up for sale in the DLC service for a price such as $1.49. Players are ecstatic.

3) Music Packages
Not exactly essential, but it could be fun for any people who thrive to collect everything. Once you've heard every remixed track in SSB4, you could opt to download more tracks to fight with on stages both local and online. A package of ten songs could cost $.49.

EXAMPLE) A new Legend of Zelda game for Nintendo 3DS comes out with extremely memorable music, five months after the release of SSB4. Nintendo puts a package of ten songs from the game in a single package for players to use however they want.

All of these ideas have been for the Wii U though, because I think Nintendo would handle pricing in the Nintendo eShop differently. I can imagine Nintendo taking a new character like Mega Man, taking five popular songs from his games, adding a new stage based on a Mega Man locale and putting it all together in one package for anything from $6.99 to $9.99. I know that the eShop is pricey, but thats a realistic depiction of how they would probably approach it. Opinions?

People hated the Wii because of motion controllers, then Sony and Microsoft does it and now people like it, there are rumors the next Xbox will use a tablet like controller

And everyone in the commets are saying "I don't want a tablet controller I just want an upgraded 360 controller for it" there are people who do not like chance it's clear and the Wii U controller is more tritional then the Wiimote because it's going back to buttons and no more motion and the only chance is that it has a screen (everyone liked the DC for doing it) but there are still haters and if this rumor is true people will start to like it because now Microsoft is doing it but when Nintendo does it people say "HAHA NINTENDO IS THE NEW SEGA" (you know for failing with the DC and going third party) but I don't understand all this hate for Nintendo these days.

I said before I love Sony and Microsoft and PS and Xbox but I just wish people started to focus on games and less on which company has the best console.

So, another quick little idea of mine. In Brawl, you could set custom controls for each different name/tag, right? Well, how about being able to set a 'colour' along with this? For example, I always have a golden/yellow shield in Smash, which usually means I need to be player 3. To make this easier, when I register my name - PWN3 - I could set the golden/yellow colour for my shield, ensuring I have that colour when using any controller port.

It wouldn't really be that hard to pull off, methinks, and would be a nice little feature.

OK, so it may not have one. But I have a feeling Nintendo did not reveal all it's cards. Last time Nintendo revealed the Wiimote, then the next E3 revealed the speaker on the controller -- which I think adds a new level of gameplay never before possible. Now, they reveal @ E3 2011 their biggest secret (Wii uTablet) while givign Sony tons of time to copy them (which I believe they will). This seems like a very miscalculated move, or Nintendo has a bigger, even better secret that will change things once again.

I originally said on another form that I think if Project Cafe was real (and it was) that the screen would also have 3D capabilities. With the DS, Nintendo tested the waters for casual gamers. Thats why it was a third pillar until Nintendo saw the crazy amount of systems sold. Thats when they fully went down the path of gameplay and not graphics.

We'll last year they tested the market for 3D. And it was somewhat of a success. The 3DS sold over 4 million units, with most of those sales since the price drop and newer games being released. The Holiday season also helped sales, I am sure.

So I think Nintendo could add 3D to the screen. Because we know Nintendo has wanted to do this since the GCN, probably before, and they just couldn't have a screen with glasses free 3D in the living room. Now they can.

And imagine. Being able to play the game on the big screen, and then to get the 3D effect stream it to the controller. Or you playing a some RPG and you point the back of the uTab to the TV screen, and be able to see the environment in 3D. The possibilities could be endless.

What do you guys think?

Nintendo needs to partner with Capcom again.
1) Potential for Mega Man to actually appear again... properly.
2) Capcom has hit a fan rut. However, they tend to be super successful with the fans whenever they do something that includes Nintendo. Take the Wii for example, not exactly a hardcore machine for third party, and then Capcom dishes out TvC and MHTri. The Ace Attorney series, which has pretty much made its home on Nintendo Handhelds (and you've also got Ghost Trick in that mix too). Then you've got Capcom's takes on Zelda among other things.

I do not know about it being a flop since fatsimsu gave it a perfect score and sold well enough to be in the top ten games that sold well in Japan last year, it just sold less than ff 13. U am excited for it and a demo is coming on the 11th. I will have to wait though since I am in college so my bro get to enjoy it.

Apparently, it's a flop. lol

Nonetheless, I'll still get it. Most of the time a Final Fantasy title is a flop, it's because there are too many people disappointed it's not just another FFIV/VI/VII/X. I personally don't have a problem with Square attempting to keep battle systems fresh with each new installment.

That said, those people are probably the same people who think Call of Duty is the best thing ever.

Thanks, dude!  And you didn't sound impatient to me!  I just feel like telling what's been going on with me, to give some idea of how the animation production's going.  And to gladly answer your question: Yep, I'm doing both regular Zidane and trance Zidane--he enters Trance in this animated fight sequence.

Good idea, Blade!  I tried to message here a little earlier, but it took me like 15 minutes to find the reply box!  It's kinda hard to see!  ;P  In fact, in light of what I told in the Discussion Thread, this would be the perfect place for tossing ideas for the channel!  Having a distinct thread on the YouTube Channel's design will be helpful!  And as far as I can see, you're the owner of the Channel, man!  :P  The more we spread out the administration behind Operation Moogle, the better we can operate!
