#96813 Smash Bros Memories

Posted by Andy on 31 July 2012 - 09:14 AM

I don't trust this... but I don't think it's a terrible idea. Seeing more classic characters would be nice (even though I'm not exactly a "classic gamer" at my age). And since Namco (right?) is on the project, even more classic characters are available.

But also... a big punch in the face about SmashBrothers3D expectations is that 3DS cartridges are 2GB... SuperSmashBrosBrawl is 8GB. Even removing the virtualconsole games, story mode (& cutscenes), and stickers... that wouldn't bring the game back down to 2GB. Yes the graphics might be less detailed, and maybe less polygons, and maybe slightly less sound quality, but it will need to be portable and 2GB. So bringing in a new roster would allow them to remove much of the old one without raging players attacking. I figure this is a good way to make a smaller version of Smash seem interesting and fresh.
I find it ironic that a classic theme makes me thinks its fresh... but it does.

The MINIMUM for a 3DS game card is 2GB. The maximum for a 3DS game card is still said to be around the 8GB mark. And if anyone is going to be the first to have an 8GB game card, odds are it'll be Sakurai.

#95493 What do you want Retro's new title to be?

I want to see them make a new IP if anything. I believe their creative minds can whip something new and iconic for Nintendo.

#92802 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by Joshua on 10 July 2012 - 06:15 AM

With the Wii U needing to display two images (TV and Controller) wouldn't Nintendo logically pack in a stronger CPU that is able to process information fast enough simultaneously? Or am I missing something here?

http://www.nintendo-...rines-director/

So what he said about the Processor was a Lie?

As long as the gameplay isn't laggy, and we get good third-party I'm fine...

Now with this, we have ourselves a contradiction between developers. Perhaps they have different dev kits?

#68661 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Andy on 30 March 2012 - 07:46 PM

Okay, I will honestly be surprised if Magnus doesn't make it into Smash Bros 4. There's a lot of potential in this guy; and he's in a game made by Sakarai himself.
Also, how could you NOT want this theme in SSB4?

#66829 Possible Rumor?: Wii U renamed "Nintendo 6 Entertainment System"

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 18 March 2012 - 12:35 PM

The dreamcast logo look-alike in the 6 makes me think somebody is making fun of the WiiU , after that idiot said they were gonna "dreamcast" themselves. The WiiU has... admitidly a kind off name... not great. BUT regardless of the image, having a six in the name is stupid... i mean REALLY, WHO would put a NUMBER in thier NAME!??..... oh uuhhhh... either way, i think Nintendo Stream would be cool... there's a thread for this sorry, imma shutup

yah im starting to think the person who made this is Mike pachter haha

#65497 Next Xbox to have no optical disc drive?

I'm glad Nintendo doesn't do stuff like this...

From what I get out of this the system could actually be using a cartidge like meduim for hard copies of games, that is if it the rumor is true and I am correct about it. This could be good or bad thing as there are benefits for using cartidge storage for games such as faster loading times, but this could put them in the situation  similar to the Nintendo 64 where the cartidges were expensive for developers to make use of the full power of the system, depending on how Microsoft does it.

So right now I will wait and see if this is true, false, or just part of the big picture.

#63334 Will F-Zero make a comeback ?

I actually believe they should be making an F-Zero game for the Wii U. A fast pace, hardcore sci-fi racer could be just the thing to show off the true power of the Wii U.

#64534 which launch game would you want the most?

Posted by TheAmazingXemo on 03 March 2012 - 07:16 AM

Personally, I'd like to see a Super Mario 64 caliber 3D Mario game as a launch title. A high-def revisit to the Mushroom Kingdom. I think that it would sell well, be a technical showpiece for the system, and hell- It's a Mario game at launch! When was the last time we saw a Mario game at launch?

#61964 The Wii U can, in theory, run the Samaritan demo.

Posted by Shokio on 16 February 2012 - 11:14 AM

Dude....what....

A 4870 would NOT make Wii U 12x more powerful than 360! A 12x jump expectation for WIi U is completely unrealistic! It's even unrealistic for PS4/720.
Posted Image
See that? It takes a GPU with 2.5 TFLOPS to run Samaritan at 1080p 30fps.

We'd be lucky to get such GPUs from even PS4/720 in 2013.

It takes 4.4 times the power of 360 to run Samaritan in 720p and since PS4 & 720 will be no doubt be more powerful than that when they launch in 2013 (expecting 6 -8 x more pwoerful) they can run Samaritan at 720p all effects.

Wii U is expected to be 3 - 5x 360, so either it can run it at 720p reduced effects or sub-hd.

Don't get people's hopes up with false information.

Yes, 2.5 TFOPS, ON PC HARDWARE. PC's require much stronger GPU's and CPU's than consoles do to run to SAME games, I'm sure you know this. And like I said, everything I'm going off is pure speculation and based off of unconfirmed rumors. So I'm not purposely trying to give false hope, and it's highly possible that I could be wrong. I made that clear in my post.

Consoles aren't optimized for gaming either, they're optimized for cost, if that weren't the case all consoles would have 3x the amount of RAM they have now.

Looking back on it the Wii U has a chance of running this game, but this demo in particular has a much, much higher reliance on GPUCompute than any consumer program before this, not something ATI does quite as well as NVidia.

Yea they are lol. They're GAME systems bro, they are literally MADE for gaming, unlike PC's. That's why when Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft make a console, the CPU's and GPU's they use are all BASED off of Pc processors. Because they optimize them and customize them. That's why consoles can run the same games PC's can run, but on weaker hardware. Because their optimized for games.

As for RAM, console don't require nearly as much as RAM to play game as PC's do. Consoles can do so much with so little RAM.

I don't think it is false hopes, since you -- nor do I -- have any good idea what will be in the Wii U, Xbox 720 or PS4. Especially PS4 since there are no rumors. All we kn ow about the Wii U is that it has a multi-core IBM processor based off the tech in the Watson CPU (possibly a little brother to it, and directly related) and that it will have an insane amount of eDRAM (we don't know the amount, but it did state it will have a lot -- google for PR release). We also know the GPU is based off the HD Radeon video card, and we "know" it's based of 4870 series (which is the basis for the 5xxx Series, for reference ... which btw lead to the creation of the 6xxx Series). I say "know" because thats the RUMORED specs. Even if it is true -- it still doesn't tell us anything. Nintendo and ATi/AMD started at that point and moved forward, developing a card that fits Nintendo's needs. Since this is a next gen, it needs to be able to play any current gen tech and new gen tech (aka, this engine we see in this demo). It also needs to be economically sound. It can't be too crazy. And it needs to be low-heat, since we don't want over heating Wii U's. So, in theory, the Wii U could have something that looks like an Evergreen GPU or even a early Northen Islands GPU.

Now with the Xbox 720, we know even less. We don't even know it's name. We don't know what it will look like. We do know it will be developed by Microsoft, and that Foxxconn will probably manufacture the console. It probably will retain the Xbox name, with a possible name Loop or 720. Maybe it will be called Xbox Wizard.

Point is, we don't know what the 720 will be. And since we don't know a lot about Wii U, comparing it to the 360 because we know it's specs is odd. Why not compare rumor vs rumor? It makes just as much sense.

Anyway, I think the Wii U will be able to run the Samaritan Demo @ 1080p when all is said and done. I believe all next gen consoles will. Although we wont see graphics like that at launch, unless it's an exclusive or made by Nintendo (other developers will simply do ports upscaling the graphics for the first part of Wii U's life). Here is hoping we see Retro Studio's next game at launch.
