I get the impression you don't think the mess that Nintendo finds itself in at the moment is serious at all?
No. The impression is Nintendo has been in a many a mess before ESP with the oh so praised Yamauchi...who nearly destroyed the company several times over. People on forums and websites try to act like being a CEO is like being a coach of a sports team. Couple bad seasons and gotta fire him. The worst thing you can do to a company when struggling is get rid of a CEO. Yahoo just ask them. HP went through I think 3 the last 5 years and they have been in a carpstorm. Sony is in a more financial mess than anyone at the moment. Now on their 3rd CEO on the last few years. PS4 doing well now but other departments not doing well. Nintendo as a company is not in any danger of going out of business. They are in danger of going on a path that way. Nintendo is not doomed but have heavy challenges ahead of them. Iwata just has challenges ahead of him he must take care of.
People need to chill the frak out. Esp in 2014 where there is a very promising lineup. many Nintendo consoles before have had early struggles but once it started getting some hits they did fine. Wii U has a better 2014 lineup than PS4 and XBO and marketing out of the gate can get you a wonderful boost. You can only coast so long. Not saying Wii U will outsell those. Just saying It should have enough games this year and they key thing here is where Nintendo struggles the most. Marketing. EVERY game they release this year should be all over TV and websites. 2014 as I keep saying is make or break for Wii U. 2013 is 2013. If the lineup of 2014 fails to move system then yes. That is time to panic and consider changes.

I think the Wii U will do
Why am I seeing an abundance of the words 'PS4', '1080p', and '60 FPS'?
It is not in this thread specifically, but in many places on these forums, others, and in the comments sections of articles.
I am not sure I can pin point one game, currently out, that meets this standard (not including re-released stuff).
Wait, COD: Ghosts. I can think of one. However, everything else is 1080/30, usually upscaled.
What annoyed me about the PS4 is how Mark Cerny referred to the console as a supercharged PC when as Nvidia pointed out, the PS4 is a low-end PC. I believe the PS4 will be a great console, but people have really fallen for the whole "PS4 is a supercharged PC", the architecture of the PS4 was already outdated prior to its launch.

Heres your problem. You are thinking like someone who wants their company/studio to grow organically and compete by making great products that people want to buy and become loyal to because of their high quality.... And you assume the same about publishers like EA.Nintyfan86, on 03 Jan 2014 - 1:12 PM, said:
That is the thing. Short term, you can generate an ROI by dumping a small investment into these games and putting them out there. Long term, the core audience will be somewhere else. Meanwhile, Nintendo's audience, which may not be exactly the same as the other platforms', is not growing in the way of interest for your products (forget about the quality of the product and look at the lack of advertising as a prime example).
My overall business philosophy coincides with common sense-do not waste resources unless you intend for something of value to occur.
With the Wii U, these third parties put their stuff out there at launch, and then gave up. Almost as if they expected an overnight turnaround for these genres on the platform. I am not sure Nintendo did their best to work with third parties, but the initial effort, from the outset, would have been a long term investment for publishers.
This line of reasoning is why their overall about face makes so little sense to me, and why we have 5 man port teams in the first place.

Okay, so you're never changing your views no matter how much sense I throw at either of you, way to be pros.
Here's a video about the UK.
it's not about changing of views, it's about logic and evidence, like what I've seen here:
http://finance.whart...-Governance.pdf
That's how Japan is, shareholders basically have no power. That's not about views or opinions, that's about facts. I knew Japanese businesses operated differently from American/European business, but even I was shocked that basically it is kind of an opposite of what Western business is like. Me trying to argue against would be like me arguing that water doesn't exist. It would be my opinion, perhaps, but it would also be factually WRONG. It would just be STUPID

Nintendo have been listening to those morons, as a stock holder you vote on issues.
And Nintendo (and Japanese businesses in general) only really pay attention to them as a courtesy.

My turn to chime in. Who is this "core" people are speaking of? I mean really. The Wii sold 100 million consoles. Does that mean 100 million people bought it? PS3 and XBox 360 sold roughly 80 million a piece. Does that mean 160 million people bought it? All together that would be 260 people, right? The answer to all the questions is no. The Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One is at around 8 million. Is that 8 million people? No. People are dipping and buying multiple console. The 8th generation market have not been establish yet to even know if the Wii U is doing poorly or if the PS4 and Xbox One is doing great. The so called "core" audience have not been establish for this generation. It is going to take at least 3 years to figure that out. Nintendo is doing what most company do. They are trying to find their market and exploit it. All this talk of investors. Investors do not even know the extent of what they are investing in. They invest in numbers. Even though the total console sales of each generation has increased, there is a time when it might slow down. Numbers could be decreased by have more stable products that do not need to be purchased again. Nintendo management is fine. They know what games people want. They probably have many discussions about if a game should resurface. As someone mention, they tried with Kid Icarus. They will try another and another until they find one that sticks. The internet is a small (very small) percentage of the gaming community. I understand the OP being frustrated but it comes a time when people need to leave politics to the ones in the gaming industry."
That is the funny thing, Japanese business prioritizes STAKEHOLDERS i.e. employees, suppliers, and customers. Furthermore....the way Japanese businesses are structured makes it near impossible for investors to influence the board of directors. In fact, most of the time the board of directors tend to be people from INSIDE the company who tend to be voted in by the CEO himself. Yeah, the CEO basically can't be taken out except by himself. Everything you THINK you know about business, you kinda have to do the exact opposite with Japanese. It's THAT different from the West.

I say lets all just wait 'til e3 eh? If during e3 all ninty announces is stuff we already know about but nowt else, and microsonysoft announce tons of new titles and other cool stuff, THEN and ONLY THEN should we be worried.
then leave now, the only thing there showing is stuff we already know, retros game, maybe 1-2 other new games and EVERYTHING ELSE will be footage of games we already know are being made (example mario, mario kart, zelda etc). nintendo are already getting like 15 first/second party games already, adding even more is asking too much.

In all honesty, i have played playstation most of all since probably ps1/ps2, nintendo before then, a little xbox in between. Im almost 30 and i have come to the point where sony and msoft are too much about graphics and competition and have lost touch with what it is to have fun playing a game. I bought my Wii U a couple weeks after launch and tbh, Nintendo still holds that charm of fun that the other guys have forgotten about. I think most people have lost touch with just having fun and are too caught up in fanboy wars, graphics wars, exclusive wars, blah blah blah.
The games will come, every system these days have a fairly weak launch in reality, unfinished/unpolished os's, delayed/late 1st party games. I agree Nintendo missed out of some 1st party titles for launch and missing some potential 3rd parties, but i think in time the games will be here, the system will be polished up, developers that stick it out and learn to develop quality titles and show what it can really do, things will play out fine.
Some claim they have patience but they really dont, and coming from someone who almost always is a day 1 console buyer thats been through this same repetitive stuff with ps360vita (Vita forums were exactly like this for the longest time), the problem of launch issues wont be going anywhere for any system, learn patience or wait to make your purchase.
