#184793 If you were the boss of Nintendo, how would you reply to this letter?

Posted by Bane on 21 March 2013 - 02:29 AM

Im 34 yrs old and ive always had nintendo, ive never owned any other brand. I do play xbox, and ps3 but as a buisness you guys at nintendo will always get my vote for inovation and the most amazing gameing moments ever and for that, i think of nintendo as an old friend. So i hope as friends you can be honest with me :) i loved the wii, even my friends love it (galaxy, no more heros, wii sports especialy), but as a gamer i wasnt buying anything like what my friend were, (i refused to by cheap mini games) every week they had a new game, so when you anounced wiiu with HD graphics and the controler i thought "finaly", then you showed a list of games and i was hooked, ive never played battlefield and when i saw it listed i was sold. (Now before anyone says its craap, i want to judge it for myself, thats what makes games great, wanting it, then playing it at home) Ive heard its bin canned, but ive just spent, $350 on wiiu. Now as friends, and you are, please tell me if this is gonna happen a lot, i love wii u but im a gamer and ive also got to buy a bluray player as my old one broke so its very expensive. I respect you guys always but what should i do? If there are some amazing cross platform games coming, and all the big devs are going to support wiiu, then cool as i get the best of both worlds, but honestly, in a year im i going to be walking in the game shop with my friends and walking out empty handed again? If so maybe this generation i should go elsewheere? im not rich and i cant have 2 consoles. I will never abandon nintendo and i love my 3ds, but i need a blu ray and i need to know if im gonna get the software you promised and the range, its perfectly ok if you guys took a gamble and it didnt pay off, i love that about nintendo and thats why you know you can pull off the ultimate console, i hope the wii u is it, but hey, if it aint, so what, but as friends, just let me know. Thanks guys x

Hello,

First, I would like to thank you of your support for Nintnedo. And I fully understand your concern for the Wii U console. All I can ask is to please be patient. More games will come. Just give it time. We at Nintendo are doing everything we can to make sure that every Wii U console purchase is worth the investment.

Sincerely,

Satoru Iwata

CEO of Nintendo.

#172771 Amazing Spider Man Wii U March 5th

Posted by Bane on 18 February 2013 - 01:47 PM

I have this for PS3 and I was very impressed by it. I am glad it is coming to Wii U. It is funny: You guys whine about ports, yet you want as many 3rd party games on the Wii U. Beggers can't be choosers, you know.

#92818 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by Bane on 10 July 2012 - 08:22 AM

*SIGH* you know guys...this isn't rocket science. Just because the clockspeed may be lower, doesn't mean the CPU is going to be weaker than the Cell or Xenon. ANd some of you sound like you think this means that the clock speed is now going to be only like 2 Ghz. As I am sure most of you know, the clockspeeds of the Xenon(360 CPU) and the Cell(PS3 CPU) is 3.2 Ghz. If the Wii U CPU clockspeed really is lower, than its probably 3.0 Ghz, a measly .2 difference. Besides, the CPU will easily make up for it in other areas, such as multithreading. The CPU is either a Tri-Core or Quad-Core Power7 based processor, which can support up to 4 threads per core. However, Nintendo is likely to lower the amount of threads per core. Even then, it will still be better. The 360 and PS3 support 6 threads of code.

Even if the CPU is a Tri-Core, it can do 3 0r 4 threads per core, meaning it can support 9-12 threads. Heck, if Nintendo is using Quad-Core and does 2 threads per core, that is 8 threads, which is still higher than what 360 and PS3 can do. SO with Wii U, you are essentially looking at 8-12 threads of code for Wii U. And its a given that Wii U will have more RAM than 360 and PS3. We are most likely taking 32 MB of eDRAM and 1.5 GB of unified RAM(although .5 will likely be reserved for OS but still.) And the GPU will have a minimum clockspeed of 600 Mhz compared to the 500 Mhz clock of the 360 and the 550 Mhz clock of the PS3, Even Crytek, a dev team who are big on specs, said Wii U is minimum as powerful as the current HD twins. So despite a lower CPU clock, its pretty clear that Wii U still has better hardware than 360 and PS3

Sorry about the first part, but this really iclockspeed thing really isn't a big deal and it certainly doesn't mean the Wii U is weak.

Interersting. If true, I hope there are third party holiday bundles like a ZombiU bundle.

#86327 Wii U wont sell at A loss

Posted by Bane on 10 June 2012 - 06:09 AM

does no one consider the possibility that sony and microsoft's next console's will be really weak? i still haven't seen one person that doesn't think microsoft and sony's next consoles will be powerhouses. i dont understand where this assumption is coming from? sony is failing and havent made profit since the last time they made a weak console. microsoft is casual obsessed these days. not saying they're going to be weak but it's more likely they will be weak than powerful.

as for nintendo, i hope they price it where they make no profit, no loss, i think that would be the best price, and later down the line production costs will fall and they will make profit, that way they will still make profit day one off software sales :)

Agreed. Sony can't really afford to lose like $200 on every PS4. Also despite this, I still predict that Wii U will launch at $299.99

#74769 Wii U Console Redesign

Posted by Bane on 25 April 2012 - 12:43 PM

I think it will be redesigned. The current Wii U is basically a longer, rounder Wii. Plus E3 was more of an unveiling of the controller, so the console looks like it was sort of just "thrown together' for E3, so I hope it is atleast slightley redesigned(hopes for black color option and matte finish).

u can use gamecube controllers to I believe.. I got plenty of these :)   (I dont like wii controller either).. I play solo in my house, I mean nobody else in my house loves tech... or tech friendly.. lol.. So I will stick with the controller screen..

No you cannot. Nintendo confirmed that Wii U is not backwards compatible with Gamecube games and accessories(including Gamecube controllers).

@Crackkat that is interesting.

But streaming to 4 tablets would take power away, wouldn't it? I think Wii U is powerful, but not THAt powerful. Well not so much that but It honestly doesn't need 4 tablet support.
