I just saw a patient for Nintendo's Wii U controller. From this picture it seems that there are analogue sticks and triggers.
Can this be the actual final design for the Wii U Controller? Post your thoughts! :P

We all kind of already knew that. All of the pictures and actual controllers at games shows have had those two features so why wouldn't the final product?

I think that Nine10Doh meant that the patent shows the controller with analogue sticks, rather than circle pads. Personally, I think that Nintendo will keep the circle pads. They seem to like them at the moment. I suppose that it's possible for Nintendo to make some changes to the design of the controller though. They slightly altered the 3DS between E3 2010 and its launch.

Yes. And besides, Nintendo said they we would get used to it. And I trust them.

I don't mind either. However there was that one gamer who roadtested GR:Online at E3, and he didn't seem too happy about the Circle Pads. There hasn't been an FPS title on the 3DS at the moment to see how well it controls (because in the end, I will have a lot of FPS games on the Wii U anyway).

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

I have only heard one criticism of the "feel" of the controls from someone who has actually used the new controller, so I doubt Nintendo are worried about this. Far better to allow and encourage players to customise the look of it, than to try and please everyone with the "perfect" hardware.

I can see stickers and such being applied to the flat controller, quite liberally, and perhaps different shaped and coloured "caps" for the circle pads. I could imagine rubber, domed caps fitting over the circle pads to give a feel more like thumbsticks.

Personally I like circle pads, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ninty made an Analog model for those who want it. That could actually be a way to keep the console cost low, because they could easily make a profit off the Analog fans :P

I wouldn't mind analog sticks, but analog pads are good also.

I read through the patent and it refers to them as "analog sticks" at every given chance. Then again, the patent also shows a picture of the Wii U controller being connected to a Wii, so it was clearly prepared a while ago. February 2, to be exact.

Dang it. Your right. I guess this was an outdated version of the Wii U controller. :P
