That's a pretty fancy looking doorstop.

Though I can see it as a good economic alternative for young children who don't care for stereo audio, clamshell designs or 3D screens.

I feel sorry for people buying a Intendo 2DS, that thing is just a rip off of the Nintendo 2DS.

You do realise its being marketed to kids in particular the under 7's. I guess you've not been following all the press reports or discussion on these and other forums. Its not for people who vist forums like this and the dedicated gaming sites.

They forgot the row in the table that tells which handhelds give children under 7 seizures :P

There was an article about how the 3D effect is actually good for kids because it helps them develop their eyes or something. The thing about seizures is just written as a precaution.

Why do people keep hating on the 2DS? It looks like a cute little kiddy version of the 3DS, if you don't like it no one wants to hear you hate on it.

If its on the internet it must be true!

On average, under 7, their eyes are too close together, spending extended time looking at 3d will adversely affect proper development, akin to using corrective lenses of an incorrect/someone elses prescription.

Sounds like your article was an ignorant misinterpretation of the benefits that can be had by older kids-adults, such as identifying and even going minor ways to correcting minor optical defects (particularly dealing with the muscles of the eyes and how they affect parallax).

yea this 2ds is pure crap imo. To me it seems like some Chinese knock off of a 3ds.

But i Guess some people will buy it just because its cheaper.

Was not expecting it to be heavier than 3ds.

The build design makes it heavier because it has that extra weight in the back vs being fordable. And some the pix its thicker on the bottom screen.

I don't particularly like the 2DS, but if Nintendo wants to make it then go right on ahead. Besides who I'm to judge the decisions the professionals make.

Like most people i really don't understand why they would go for this sort of design, sure it's cheap but it looks just so damn ugly IMO. Could it have really have hurt to have kept the fold in design.

You don't seem to get it. The main reason was to get rid of the clam shell design to get rid of the hinge which is very vulnerable especially in the hands of a little kid. That plus they tried to make it more durable overall with the chunky design. Its not being marketed toward you and I and others on these forums but young kids especially the under sevens. You may think it looks ugly but I doubt a five or six year old is going to look at it like that.
