But in all likelihood, we'll still use friendcodes to add people, just have a friendly name display like the 3DS does, so there shouldn't be a problem with a name being taken.


... I somehow doubt that, since Nintendo is going for independent accounts.

I still doubt we'll see a return of friend codes on Wii U. Nintendo knows full well that people dislike them, and if they really are aiming for a hardcore audience then an XBL/PSN style structure would be the way to go.

We'll probably see friend codes make a swift disappearance on the 3DS once Nintendo Network is launched anyway. I get the feeling that the basic online features at the moment are just placeholders for a much more developed system.

I really hope that Nintendo Network lauches on 3DS before the WiiU comes out.... and that accounts are console universal
