#315890 New Interview from Gunpei Yokoi
Posted by Portal on 07 July 2015 - 05:19 PM
I find it interesting how a lot of what he says is even more meaningful now. What with greater graphics and a seeming lack of originality or even much potential for it. It's a shame his life was cut short. He really seemed ahead of his time. I'd imagine if he were still around he'd be a rather unique indie. Even dabbling in other areas.

#315883 Bryan Konietzko Reveals Threadworld
Posted by Portal on 07 July 2015 - 04:28 AM
Threadworlds is a new graphic novel coming from Bryan Konietzko. You know, the guy who gave us the awesomeness that is Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Oh, and there's FIVE PLANETS IN A SINGLE ORBIT. God only knows what that means for the story, but it sounds REALLY cool!

#315772 Comics Thread: Ultimate Detective Guardians of the Multiversity, Now with ACTION
Posted by Portal on 03 July 2015 - 04:43 PM
To kick off some discussion, I followed the Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Son of Dathomir(SoD) from Dark Horse last year. I am currently reading Marvel's Star Wars: Kanan: The Last Padawan. I plan on getting Star Wars: Lando #1 and Star Wars #7 this month and the Volume 1 TPBs for the other Marvel Star Wars series as they release. If that means anything.
Any thoughts on the DC and Marvel reboots? I'm interested in Marvel's new Avengers, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Ms. Marvel series. Of course, I'll probably just follow Avengers because of the multiple characters and my lack of money. I do however, plan on buying the Ms. Marvel Volume 1 TPB soon, given I've heard such good things.
So after my mega-post, someone needs to reply to this thread so I don't look stupid? ;D

#315617 Your Top 5 or 10 DS Games
Posted by Portal on 30 June 2015 - 02:09 PM
I didn't mean for my post to sound like M&L:PiT is less of a game because it's digital. More like in regards to this thread, digital has minimal bearing on the topic. If that makes sense. IMO DS games should be played on either original hardware or 3DS. Authenticity and all that. Then why am I having so much fun playing this game?

#311255 Nintendo Direct - April 1st - NO JOKE 6pm EST / Treehouse Live Afterwards

I can see it being a summer release after E3 before the big releases. Starting the ND or E3 with WiiU Pokemon would be a good idea.Maybe now is the correct time to announce this officially... the arcade cabs have been out in Japan for a couple months or so now.

Could SMTxFE be one of the big holiday 2015 games to replace Zelda U? That'd be pretty interesting to get it with Star Fox U and the rumored Paper Mario.Would be nice FE SMT although they do have some 3DS stuff that would make sense too...

Hey look! It's the VR the dinosaurs used! #dinosaurVR
Virtual Reality is about replacing your reality with a virtual reality. That's what the Nintendo Virtual Boy was about. It was a portable 3D device that you out on your head and all you can see is what is in the screen. You can call it whatever you want, but it is doing basically the something.
And there are so many companies, huge companies, working on VR. FaceBook, Sony, HTC, Google. Microsoft is going with AR, which is similar but different.
I really believe FaceBook has great non game ideas. It could transform how online schools work. Virtual meetings for huge world wide companies would be completely changed too. Imagine instead of showing pictures of your vacation, you share the VR recording of your vacation.
VR is going to be the next big thing.

#311023 Hyrule Warriors Character Unlock
Posted by Portal on 26 March 2015 - 04:38 PM
Erm, L-targeting, weak points, traditional Zelda items? I'll admit the only other Warriors game I've played is Chronicles on 3DS, but the gameplay is different. And there's also Adventure Mode, the Challenge Mode, and well-priced DLC that works pretty well too.Umm what does this have to do with trolling? You want details? Just Google for them, they are in almost every review. I'm not sure how long all of you have been playing the Dynasty Warriors series, but I played every installment religiously since the fall of 2000 on PS2 (including the Japan-only exclusives), and yeah, it has gotten a little stale, considering they have changed less than 5% of the gameplay in a decade and a half.
The Zelda universe allows for an amazing open-space hack and slash game, and KOEI totally blew it. I'm not even talking about the injustice they did the Zelda IP in the presentation department, because gameplay comes first, and the gameplay just doesn't hold up.
Oh, and we don't do "use google to figure my opinions out" around here. 'Cus like, we like to have good discussions and help each other out and such. Remember that before 3dude totally gets on you.

#311012 Hyrule Warriors Character Unlock
Posted by Portal on 26 March 2015 - 02:44 PM
Care to explain how? Only thing I wanted was the game to be about one of the wars in Hyrule's past. The story is still pretty decent though, and the gameplay was smart with a whole lot of content. This game could have been so much more. What a waste.
