Come on, this is stupid. Everyone agrees that there are problems with gaming "journalism" in that it often, directly or indirectly, gets its money from the industry. A debate about how this works and to what extent would be interesting and welcome. So far, I think everyone agrees, so there is on need to discuss that. This "gamergate" business started as someone trying to take completely personal issues and make them public, to get revenge on someone he thought had done wrong to him. This I think is also well known. We also all agree that MOST of what has been coming out of "gamergate" is just a completely misogynist rainbowefest. So what's left to discuss? Whether or not some issues raised by gg might be of benefit to the discussion? Is that really worth continuing this insult tennis match you're playing now?

The difference here, 3dude, is that you're no longer criticizing gg, but the actions of 4chan and reddit communities, for something they have been doing for years, even back with the advent of "anonymous." 4chan mods have doxxed their own userbase in recent weeks.  It seems as if users are doxxed on tumblr now regularly.  This issue isn't exclusive to gamergate.

You keep calling me a Microsoft fanboy despite the fact I never have and never will own an Xbox console. I have owned five consoles in 19 years that I've been gaming and that's the PS1, PS2, PS3, Gamecube and Wii U.

 

You're the only person sounding like a 'fanboy' with your constant gloating about your low-end wannabe PC that is underpowered and outdated.

 

As for the Xbox One, I can't say I'm a massive fan of it anymore than I am of the PS4 which is why I've got myself a Gaming PC.

 

I figured that since both the Xbox One and PS4 are using x86 architecture I might as well buy a proper PC, not some low-end hybrid that thinks it's a PC, but isn't and never will be able to compete.

 

Though continue to post more threads port begging for PC games, that made my day that did. You'll be asking for Steam next.

For weeks I've been struggling to think what my mum would want for Christmas and then I thought about a tablet, bingo! She might not use as much as I hope but I think she will still be surprised and thought it will come in useful for her work and things.

 

I didn't want to get something too expensive but it was either the Nook HD or this Nvidia Tegra Note 7 which comes with a 1.5ghz quad core processor, 72 core GPU and a good camera with stylus (most tablets around £150 - £200 don't come with a stylus).

Nintendo is hiding any and all information on any game that is not a 2d platformer, party game, or mini game collection.

New.... innovative games? Nintendo hasn't made an innovative since Galaxy. All they do is recycle the same stuff over and over again. That's why so many of the 3DS' games consist of remakes and ports.
 
When was the last time Pokemon was innovative? Or Mario? Or Zelda? Not in a really long time, because they're franchises that have been outclasses by others within their genre. Nintendo thrives off of nostalgia, the biggest cash grab of all.

On some emotional level, I agree with this strongly... But this just doesnt line up with reality.

Nintendos highest selling games of all time, just came this last gen, and the vast majority of them were brand new franchises unlike anything nintendo, or anyone else seriously tried to do before, and they crush everything, brutally in sales.

The problem is, i just dont, and i suspect you dont, care about any of them.

You mention not innovating anything since galaxy, yet, well, galaxy just came out last gen, and this gen hasnt even fully started yet. Some players havent even stepped up to the starting line yet. Its not exactly a long time ago.

The last zeldas core gameplay mechanics was completely unlike any zelda that came before, and can only remotely be compared to one other game in existence.

It also made breakthroughs in ai design and actually somehow had a working proprietary digital molecular matter solution on the freaking wii, (long story not short enough, notice how objects that can be cut, bamboo, shields, signs etc, always cut to the exact angle and position of contact no matter what strange angle or position you try to hit? You can make tooth picks or carve shapes?Its not model swapping like 99.99% of every game ever made including every previous zelda, its an ai that creates two entirely seperate brand new models custom made by your input and data from a physics engine, on ps360, this is rare and impressive, and very glitchy, on wii, its insane) you used for actual gameplay purposes, including combat and puzzles, feats untouched and unattempted anywhere in the industry that no one wants to talk about because 'lol wii'. Of course, skyward sword suffered from 'pioneering pains' or what a fma fan would call equivilant exchange. All that focus on changing up core mechanics, getting an impossible dmm technology working flawlessly, and revolutionizing ai, meant they had to fall back hard on old tropes for world and progress design, or the game would still be in development.

I dont think the problem is that they arent innovating. They are. Its just, they arent innovating what we want, and certainly not enough, and they are currently giving people who want more of the same (who historically buy waaaaaaayyyy more than us im afraid) their fair shares, and then some more shares, and then continue to pour content down their fat insatiable face holes.....

While i sit, alone, in my dusty hovel, skin stretched tight across my parched skeletal face, licking a screen playing a trailer for x, desperately trying to find any manner of fresh palatable gaming sustenence.

When I look out the window and see all the satisfied, way past full, now completely engorged gamers still getting the same content they can never get enough of crammed down their gaping maws, spilling all over their clothes and onto the floor, it makes me feel

i cant wait for the super clean version of this to appear on the eshop, the stream and youtube are so compressed and lossied that you cant really see many details.

Heck, with the first x trailer you couldnt even tell there were little rendered rocks and pebbles all over the ground until you saw the hq eshop vid.

all those games look like 64 games. 

So you're saying that all this huff about EA changing it's mind and supporting the Wii U is wrong?

I'm saying EA want to make money, and will do so at any cost.

Have one will mean you'll just be missing out on exclusives, it's only logical that you have both for you can have your needs satisfied.

sony and microsoft have not launched yet, and by the time they do, nintendo will have it's heavy hitters on the console

 

We are seeing the same episode play out that was the "3DS vs Vita"

 

that 6-8 months the 3ds had zilch, next to zelda and starfox, and people doomed the 3ds because of the more powerful vita and all that, then they dropped mario and mario kart 3 months before Vita released. Now tell me, how did that play out for nintendo, 30 million units later to the vitas 5 million...i say ok.

 

Right now, Nintendo is already ahead of the game, they have consoles out in peoples homes, they're at the checkpoint, getting ready to drop their games  at a time when the other 2 companies will just be starting the race. 

 

I own all the systems except xbox because i didn't want to pay for xbox live, but ALL the systems are good systems, none of them are doomed, and all these threads are going to be fruitless this time year, because we will be saying the same thing after the launch titles of sony and microsoft "where are the games" because its just what happens.
