The OS takes up 4gb, we don't know how big the update is yet.
So the basic Wii U is a 4 gigabyte console and the deluxe is a 28 gigabyte console?

3GB and 25GB. Don't get me started on what happens to the rest, it confuses even the computer novices. So the basic Wii U is a 4 gigabyte console and the deluxe is a 28 gigabyte console?

You're gonna want to move those to your computer because the Wii U is going to format them in order for it to work.

Technically it's 8GB and 32GB when compared to other hard drives and the way they count. But the Wii U's free space will be 3GB and 25GB. Confusing, huh? What's the point then?! :/ they should just call it 3GB and 25GB...

just like inchs to mm.
But if you ever look at the box of a new hd it will say 1mb = 1000kb, while normally in the pc world its 1mb = 1028kb.
So you lose some bites and when you times that you get the lose.
Also it depends on which format is used. On some formats you will have a little bit more space while others you will have less.
So the wii u is 8gb and 32gb unformated at 1mb = 1000kb.
