If they didnt support more than 1, I would at least hope for them to release some kind of traditional controller for playing games like SSB and MH .-.

I remember reading an article on 3ds blog where someone high in nintendo (might have been Iwata) mentioned the WiiU will only use one screened controller at the moment, but they were looking into multiple controlers for when friends who own wiiU's visit. I think they'd miss many many many many awesome, unique and marketable experiences if they restrict to one controller. Imagine assasin's creed single console multiplayer or FPS's with no screen peek, custom robo secret customization, or splitscreen, multiplayer online where each player has there own messaging capabilities & microphone. sony is going to have that splitscreen-less 3d tv system where each player sees a different image but i think this system (of multiple screens) is way better (my opinion).

It SHOULD be able to handle 4 controllers, but I'm not convinced.

I personally wouldn't mind it having a minimum of two controllers. But knowing Nintendo (not), they will try to get 4 player. That's one of the major draws to their consoles: 4 Player.

okay then im kinda sure that the Wii U can only handle two Wii U controllers and 4 Wii Remotes. because there was a demo that had 4 Wiimotes and 1 Wii U controlelr and I presume that the Wii U can atleast support two Wii U controllers so.

Yes, it supports up to 4 controllers. Nintendo has said that you are able to use multiple Wii U controllers, but, only one Wii U controller comes in the box. It is yet to be known if we will be able to buy another controller or not. I think it's likely that we will be able to though. So, if we don't get another Wii U controller, you can just use your Wii remotes. The Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii.

I REALLY hope this is true, of course none of my friends will buy a WIi U until it costs £50, but I'll be waiting for a price drop as well, so I can't blame them.

If you read the patents for the system, they talk about streaming to multiple controllers. And a whole lot else.

I like the idea, because if someone wants to watch the TV and 2 or more are playing multiplayer game on the Wii U, you can all go to another room and continue the game
