#300644 Nintendo Effectively Takes Wii U Hostage With New EULA

Posted by alan123 on 19 October 2014 - 10:59 AM

This is the same on the Playstation, Xbox, & any-other console or device, especially if it is connected to the internet & prone to updates.

Does this guy check out every single update he does to his laptop/pc weather it be Win, OSX or Linux because the updates for these OS's if not installed could cause the system to not work correctly, this EULA is no different to any-other.

I also do not understand why he is upset about the OS called 'software' only being licensed to him, the OS is propriety & will only work on a WiiU, he goes on about the EU law stating that he can sell it, well yes he can, but he cannot remove the OS & sell the hardware & software separately.

He seems to have a number of digital games on his WiiU did he read the agreement to those as well because he only has a licence to use them like all digital content.

Pretty sure it's considered racist to imitate an accent for comedic purposes.

How do we know that Iwata isn't also putting on a voice ?

#269319 How Nostalgia Can Save the Wii U

Posted by alan123 on 29 January 2014 - 11:32 AM

But i got a next-gen console to play next-gen games, i don't want to play twenty year old games, i played them twenty years ago, if people want old cheap Nintendo games then get a Wii & use the VC on that, Nintendo shouldn't be wasting their time & money on porting Wii VC games to the WiiU VC.

#266771 a better article than that euro games peice

Posted by alan123 on 15 January 2014 - 01:38 PM

After the erroneous article Euro Games put out on the net here is a better article showing some wii u love and their experinces with the hardware.  They are the indie devs fuzzywuzzy games (armillo).  It's a pretty good read enjoy.

http://nintendoenthu...veloping-wii-u/

the guy dev they are talking to though says he hasn't worked on PS4/X1 so he cannot compare the WiiU to them, so he goes on about how the WiiU is better & easier than the X360 & PS3

i don't see the point in everyone going about how much better than the WiiU is than the X360 & PS3, the WiiU SHOULD be better than two eight year old consoles.

#265980 The Secret Developers: Wii U - the inside story

Posted by alan123 on 11 January 2014 - 06:49 AM

Dev's have already said that there have been big improvements on the support from Nintendo, but when you read this in the article,

There are some fleeting parallels between Wii U and the next-gen consoles - the combination of a low-power CPU with a much more powerful graphics chip - but the notion of next-gen titles being easily portable to the Wii U just doesn't work. The gulf in power is just too high, while the GPGPU that we'll see on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 isn't compatible with the older shader model four hardware found in the Wii U.

Things may of changed for the better, but the publishers have already left the WiiU behind, everything is now focused on the PS4 & X1, consoles & games are a circle, you cannot have one without the other, if the userbase is not there why bother spending money on porting or making a game (just) for the WiiU, with the cost of making games getting ever higher the publishers simply won't gamble their money.

How did they get things so wrong ?

SD to HD issues for in house studios,

dev-kits late & not working correctly,

lack of support & delays in getting support,

plus many others,

they had zero idea on the networking side either, they never even tried PSN or Live as nobody at Nintendo used those services !

you have all that then you have the hardware constraints on top

& even then you have all the issues & problems that devs/pubs have had previously with working with Nintendo.

#265956 The Secret Developers: Wii U - the inside story

Posted by alan123 on 11 January 2014 - 03:22 AM

From reveal to launch and beyond - a third-party developer talks about the challenges of working with Nintendo and its latest console.

The Secret Developers is Digital Foundry's occasional series where game-makers come forward to talk with us - and you - about topics they are passionate about, or in the case of this article, to give you the inside story behind a particular hot topic. As the future of the Wii U looks uncertain in the face of the successful launches for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, this "warts and all" tale from a respected third-party creator gives you some idea of how Nintendo handled the transition to the high-definition gaming era, and the challenges developers faced in bringing their games to the Wii U platform.

Hmmm well that does seem to explain a lot especially when it comes to third party support.

#256695 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by alan123 on 17 November 2013 - 02:30 PM

the only shops by me that have WiiU consoles are GAME & Toy R US, they also have a few games as does the HMV near me, none of the supermarkets by mave have any WiiU consoles or games.

the fact is that the WiiU has been out a year & has very little market penetration, one game is not going to solve or change anything.
